Masjid Negara (National Mosque), KL
Malaysia's NATIONAL MOSQUE and a masterpiece of post-independence design! Opened in 1965, its 16-point folded concrete roof echoes an open umbrella — a bold modernist break from traditional domes — while a 73-metre minaret rises above 13 acres of reflecting pools and gardens. The Grand Hall holds 15,000 worshippers beneath stained glass in every colour. Robes are provided free at the entrance and guided visits welcome non-Muslims outside prayer times. The single most important Islamic landmark in the country.
