Rambutan's rarer, sweeter relative — deep red with short, stubby knobs instead of hairs. The flesh comes away from the seed more cleanly and is noticeably sweeter and denser. Harder to find, mostly sold at rural roadside stalls, and worth grabbing the moment you spot it.
